Planning a journey
To find out which bus you need and when it departs, it is best to use the digital travel planner at this site or our app ’Länstrafiken Jämtland’. As well as route options, you will see ticket prices and receive traffic updates in real time. If you enter the destination you would like to travel from and to, and select the date and time, you will see the journey options.
If you are unfamiliar with the area or don’t know the name of your stop, the map service Eniro has an option to display bus stops along a route on a map. To use this, visit Eniro, click on ‘Mer’ in the right hand menu and select ‘Buss’. Once you are aboard, you can see a list of stops and the current position of the bus on the screen near the front of the bus.
You can also download PDF timetables on this page. The departure frequency varies between bus routes and some services do not run all year round, so remember to check the journey planner or an up-to-date timetable before setting off.
Buying a ticket
You can purchase tickets directly from the driver on board the bus. Payment is by card only – cash is not accepted. Cash is however accepted at Länstrafikens reception desk inside Östersund bus station and by some resellers including Pressbyrån, which has shops in the centre of Östersund and at the central train station.
Most ticket types are also available in the app, where you can pay by card, by Swish or by invoice via Klarna.
If you are staying for a longer period or are a frequent visitor you may want to buy a travel card, which can be loaded with different tickets, including monthly passes. Cards are available from the reception desk or from Pressbyrån. It can be topped up in these locations as well as on board the bus or online via the webshop.
